- Sleep at night
We know we should sleep eight hours a day, but what about sleeping at night? Studies have shown that people who sleep less than five hours per night tend to get older faster. Sleeping at night helps to keep our body clock regulated. When we don’t sleep enough, we’re not able to regulate our circadian rhythm properly and our hormones become out of balance. Not getting enough sleep also affects our immune system and makes us prone to conditions like obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. So make sure you get some shuteye! - Eat breakfast
When we skip breakfast, we feel sluggish throughout the entire day. Eating a nutritious breakfast keeps blood sugar levels stable and prevents cravings later in the day. A good breakfast includes whole grains, protein, and healthy fats like nuts and avocado. - Drink water
Drinking plenty of water keeps our bodies hydrated, flushes toxins from our body, and helps maintain proper weight. Water also helps flush harmful substances from our body and helps our organs function normally. We need to drink at least two liters of water daily. - Exercise regularly
Exercise releases endorphins, natural pain relievers, in our brain that help us feel happy and energetic throughout the day. Exercise boosts serotonin levels, which gives us a boost of happiness. If you want to lose weight, exercise is a great way to burn calories and improve your mood. - Get enough sunlight
Sunlight is essential for vitamin D production and helps us absorb calcium. Vitamin D helps build strong bones and muscles and keeps our teeth and gums healthy. Getting enough sun exposure also helps prevent cancer. - Take supplements
If you’re lacking certain vitamins and minerals, consider taking a multivitamin supplement. Multivitamins provide a complete spectrum of nutrition that’s difficult to find in foods alone. However, if you do choose to take supplements, make sure they’re high quality and free of fillers, binders, and preservatives. - Don’t smoke
Smoking cigarettes increases the risk of developing wrinkles and sagging skin. Smoking also damages the lungs and causes dryness and irritation.
