Meet Pretty Runaway, the heavy-metal-loving horse who’s taken the internet by storm! This seven-year-old racehorse from Bogar Farms in Lindsay, Ontario, has become a viral sensation after her headbanging antics made it onto Canadian TV. She starred on The National, the flagship show of CBC, and has since gained a large loyal online following.
“We’ve had a super great reaction to bands like Slipknot, Pantera, and even some Ozzy Osbourne—like, super-heavy bass, lots of guitar, lots of rhythm,” says her groom, Autumn Purdy. “She will literally headbang to the music. She’s on beat almost every time.”

Autumn even conducted a little experiment. “We played a modern country song, and she just turned her butt to me, couldn’t care less—she just munched on her hay. But when we put on some Pantera, she spun right around and started headbanging! If we stop the music, she stops. Turn the metal back on, and she’s back to rocking out.”
Pretty Runaway’s favorite band? Slipknot, of course. But she’s not as stoked with Rage Against The Machine.
As for her racing career, it’s unclear if her love of metal has given her any edge on the track. In her last race, she finished third at Ajax Downs in Ontario—but who’s to say if she had some Pantera in her ears, she may well have taken first place!
And get this, Pretty Runaway isn’t the first horse to go viral for rocking out to Pantera. Back in 2016, another horse caught the internet’s eye when it was filmed enjoying Pantera’s hit “Cowboys From Hell” Watch below
Rock on, metal mares!
